Happy Retirement
Pastor Emeritus David Christian
Growing up in Georgia, Pastor Christian spent his childhood in the pew of a traditional church. In his adult life, he was employed for years in the corporate world before the Lord called him to preach the Word. He earned his Bachelor of Ministry degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia and then worked toward his Masters of Religion degree at Liberty Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. His first pastoral role was at Harville Baptist Church in Brooklet, Georgia where he served as an Associate Pastor from 2001 - 2003. In January 2005, he became the Pastor of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Nelson County, Virginia and remained there for 10 years. Shipman Baptist Church was fortunate to hire Pastor Christian in November 2015 as our lead Pastor. Having served us for the last 10 years, and pastoral ministry for 25 years, he retired in April 2026 and was awarded Pastor Emeritus status by the church. We look forward to an occasional sermon by Pastor Emeritus Christian while our search committee seeks our next pastoral leader.
Well-done good and faithful servant!
